Opportunity for CAs to convert themselves from Job seekers to Job Creators

Born on 1st May, 1968, after completing his graduation in commerce from Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan University, his only Choice and desire was to become a Chartered Accountant. He therefore came to Mumbai in 1987 and joined the
well-known CA firm S K Jhunjhunwala & Co. where he completed his articleship.

Having created a niche for himself, in every field that he delved in, CA Sunil Patodia has principled his life on the ancient thoughts of Tao which says Choose a job you love and you won’t have to work a day”.
With much enthusiasm in the financial domain, He formed a CA firm S K Patodia & Associates in the year 1992 which is now a multi partnered practicing unit with 16 branches across country in 12 states and an International office located in Middle East.

He is also attached with CA fraternity & has been an enthusiastic Regional Council Member of The Institute of Chartered Accountant of India (ICAI). He has always strived in working for the development of the same and he was
unanimously elected as the WIRC Chairman 2015-16. He was unanimously endorsed for the office of International District at the 2nd Annual district convention of district 3231 A3 in 2019. He was elected as District Governor for
District 3231 A3 for the Lions year 2017 – 18 with a slogan coined as BE A GAME CHANGER and unanimously elected as the Multiple District Chairperson,3231 for the year 2018 – 19. At the International Convention at Las Vegas on 1-7-2018, CA Sunil Patodia achieved the highest honour of LionismAMBASSADOR OF GOOD WILL award for 2209 membership growth as DG in the year 2017-18.

Let’s read what his words of wisdom of a CA considering turning from a Job Seeker into a Job Creator into an entrepreneur Few People on the essence of this world have the magic to transform it until the end of time since the beginning of revolution, business visionaries or entrepreneurs have given most extreme benefits to the society. No risk, no gain has been and will consistently be the mantra of accomplishment throughout everyday life. India offers abundant opportunities for entrepreneurs these days. But vis-à-vis opportunities, India also offers a
plethora of challenges an entrepreneur should thread through to be successful. The world needs new ideas, innovative solutions, and visionary leaders who can make it happen are entrepreneurs. Today’s most successful
entrepreneurs are those who pursue both economic and social value — who create not only wealth, but also a wealth of opportunities for others.

Entrepreneurship is both the toughest and easiest way to success. You will be your own boss, you can take your own decisions Be it Steve jobs, Bill gates,J.R.D. Tata, Dhirubhai Ambani, furthermore in the realm of a CA famous names
like T N Manoharan, Mohandas Pai, Motilal Oswal, Dinesh Nandwana(CMD Vakrangee Group) Niranjan Hiranandani Kamal Poddar (MD Choice Group), Nishant Kanodia, Amit Chopda, Dharmesh Ratanghayra,   Girish Sannapanavr & Anshuman Subhedar etc. Shared a one thread “The seed of entrepreneurship.”

Many chartered accountants have already diversified into many niche areas. The more you diversify, the greater is your probability of success.  Twenty years ago, when Indian economy opened up, there were few funding
opportunities available and the only means to get funding was a bank loan or our own investment. New age businesses require lot of funding and expertise. Today, there are angel investors, venture capitalists and funding associations.Even crowd sourcing is emerging/has emerged as a leading source of finance for new businesses. A person who really has a ground-breaking idea or plan has more probability to start a successful business.

The world is changing, shaped by megatrends, and uncertainty is the only certainty. We are in transition to a time when many of us will have more than one career in our lifetime. Increasingly many of us will spend periods of time in and out of the workforce, retraining, learning new skills and launching ourselves into new fields of paid and unpaid work as the three traditional stages of life – education, work and retirement – break down. The younger the CA, chance is greater that they will go into ‘deeper’ areas of business rather than looking at the financial aspect of it.

The inherent skills or talents that most of us have (and typically have a passion for) can be applied to becoming a job creator it’s never too late to parlay your skills, talents and passions into a second career or a job you’d really love. This  is the perfect opportunity to make a difference in your life.

Entrepreneurship always comes with an element of risk, which is what most parents fear. But even with 90% of start-ups failing commercially, they entire process of becoming an entrepreneur ensures that students who embark on
this journey early in life, end up with the latest industry skills, knowledge and experience, which makes them highly employable graduates. This augurs well for a world which is moving fast from academic credentials to achievement
credentials to employ people.

When you make a decision to become a Job Creator, you can sustain the pressure only with a very strong support system at the personal front consisting of blood relatives or very close friends. There are many ups and downs and one need a shoulder to lean on and a sounding board for sharing ideas. In case your family members are already in professional practice it becomes easier to carry on legacy, as you get years of experience and ready clients to serve. Starting your own practice without any family background is challenging and that too if your area of expertise in article ship is different from area you chose in practice.  Today’s Indian Family ensures the essential survival issues and is now ready to take risks.A significant section of parents now have the comfort of allow their children look at opportunities outside jobs, following their dreams of building something of their own and creating wealth.

CA is nothing without endeavors. A comfort zone is securing people in a place where they feel themselves safely away from circumstances in life.  Even after getting a CA degree many aspiring CA students are not ready to perform
because of the only reason is they don’t want to come out of their comfort zone. Needless to say, this will take students out of their comfort zones and fire them up to pick up skills that would make them employable post college,
and possibly start their own successful ventures. This is a major problem for an individual because it prevents them from accomplishing goals. To achieve your goals as a Job Creator one needs to come out of the comfort zone. This not only will lead to personal grown but also help in doing new things and taking risks. It also enhances productivity.
No matter what profession you’re in, networking is the fuel that accelerates success. Not only is it useful for learning directly from individuals you meet, but the benefits of association and growing as an individual are just powerful.
Joining a Local Lions Club or some other such organisation may help for the purpose of networking so that one can meet new people, get new associates and improve over all personality. One of the most important benefits of
networking that people tend to overlook is that it allows you to help other people. Other benefit would be exchanging of ideas, opening doors to new opportunities, opening up resources, influencing positivity and so on. One
must incorporate the art of networking into your job search and you will gain opportunities and build relationships that will last a lifetime. Instead of just reaching out to other professionals in times of crisis, invest in these
relationships throughout the course of your career. The Internet has changed the world dramatically. Thanks to the Internet which can connect people across geographies, the next generations of successful Indian companies are
going to be global in nature. They will create products that not only solve problems in India but around the world.
There is a good old saying in the start-up world which goes something like this “everyone wants to be an  entrepreneur but they are waiting for the right time”.

Here is the catch – the right time never comes.

Similarly,  are everywhere. Having the right people around you in business is really important. The people you have on your team will be going through all the challenges and successes in your business with you.
Starting a new business is not everyone’s cup of tea. Around 80 per cent of us would prefer a stable job and career instead of taking the risk of being a Job Creator.

Now is the time for students to think seriously about being a job creator rather than a job seeker. Today’s generation is now ready to take risks. A significant section of parents now have the comfort of allow their children look at
opportunities outside jobs, following their dreams of building something of their own and creating wealth.
Thus, we need to overhaul the system of job seeking and encourage students to become job creators and innovators. They should be taught to challenge status-quo, take risks and innovate as opposed to just look out for a steady job.
Job creators are going to be a great asset and will decide the country’s fortune in the times to come.
By 2050, it is likely that the entrepreneurship history of India will be divided into a pre-Start-up era and a post-Start-up era. The most important role of any elected government is to create jobs and ensure that its citizens have a means to generate income and lead a fulfilling life.

The current NDA government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has taken a high-level decision to walk the latter path and this is clearly evident from its ‘Start-up India’, ‘Make in India’, ‘Digital India’ and
‘Skill India’ programs.

This creates an interesting situation for the vast middle-class population of India, who are largely salaried professionals. They now have the opportunity to imagine their children becoming entrepreneurs and employing people — but are we ready for this?

The Indian government has always been in favour of providing benefits to Micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). There are many advantages of obtaining MSME registration in India, which can be only availed if the
business had registered itself as an MSME/SSI under MSME Act. MSME’s are rapidly growing with regular support from the government and youths who are inspired and bold enough to start their own venture. Therefore, knowledge about the registration process and its benefits is an absolute must in order to give a boost to the entrepreneurial spirit of MSME & SSI founders

With the new National Education Policy announced by the government emphasises on making ‘job creators’ instead of ‘job seekers’ and as our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on Saturday asserted that attempts are being made
to transform intent and content of education in the country .
As every coin has two sides, so there is need of job creators who can fulfill the demand of job seekers. Depending on the talent and opportunities comes in the way of the person, he/she may need to act accordingly and exploit it to the
maximum use for the betterment of society. Instead of searching for jobs randomly, a person should introspect and get to know about the direction for which he is suitable.

The world needs new ideas, innovative solutions and visionary leaders who can make it happen are young CA Entrepreneurs. Today’s most successful entrepreneurs are those who pursue both economic and social value- who
create not only wealth but a wealth of opportunities for others Can India be the birthplace of such CA Entrepreneurs? I believe WE CAN, because we are in the cusp of a CA student start-up revolution.  The highly
risky path of being a Job Creator would soon become the preferred path for every Job Seeker.

My advise to all CA students- Be a Game Changer Be a Job Creator.

All the best.
