Story of a CA who worked continuously in the lockdown and believes in serving the Society
Name Ankush is of Indian (Sanskrit) origin and means Stop. Born in a Lower middle class family and after 3 sister’s, was named Ankush by the parents. By Qualification a Chartered Accountant, is into practice under the banner Ankush Gupta &; Associates.
He Is a Member of Lions Club of Mumbai Heritage Galaxy and believes in undertaking service activities in his capacity for the society at large. He was nominated and awarded “Recognition of CAs in social service” award by The Institute of Chartered Accountantsof India – western India regional council on 27 th August 2015.
When the 1 st Lockdown was announced on 25 th March 2020 he came up with an idea of helping senior citizens who are staying alone in and around JB Nagar area by procuring Medicines, Vegetables, fruits and groceries for them and delivering the same at their building gate. For this to be implemented well, he drafted a small message with his mobile no been mentioned and broadcasted to his mobile contact list via whatsapp. Gradually he started receiving 3-4 calls a day from senior citizens and he started gratifying their essential requirements solely securing and then delivering at their door steps. He and his wife Ekta Gupta have helped around 200 senior citizen’s till date staying in and around Andheri –East. Later Ekta Gupta started placing online orders for senior citizens and the requirement of visiting personally subsided and so the delivering groceries personally at health risk and maintaining social distancing has been eased out for Ankush Gupta.
On 5th April Ankush Gupta received a call from Sneh Sadan Chakala- which is a house for 40 underprivileged kids of requirement of day to day groceries for kids. By raising funds from his client the groceries were arranged and delivered by him personally which brought million dollars smiles on kids’ faces. This event devised him to think about the daily wages labourers, maids and other needy families, how are they managing in this corona pandemic situation. He made up his mind to make ration kits for them and to
reach them at individual capacity and distribute. By the grace of God he was able to find a vendor who was equipped to make the ration kits at very reasonable prices for charity purposes. The Only problem now was of Sponsor’s and funds. However there is a saying“Where there is a Will, there is a Way”. Then after it was no looking back and endlessly on a daily basis is been till now donating & distributing groceries to needy families almost
across Mumbai, and is successful in getting sponsor’s on a daily basis from his own extended family members of Lions Club of Mumbai Heritage Galaxy, clients &;friends. A big heartfelt GRATITUDE to each one of them. This mission is underway from 14 th April and is still on and now on a daily basis where 10-12 bare minimum families to be covered is the target set by Ankush Gupta.
For the selfless service rendered during this lockdown he was appreciated through media coverage, i.e on 28 th March 2020 in Gujarati Midday, on 16 th April 2020 his article was published on Hello Mumbai News, on 07 th May 2020 his live interview was broadcasted by Fever 104 FM & on 27 th May 2020 Navbharat Times.
