Hi Friends,
Let me introduce myself, I am CA Devanand Ramandasani (shortname ‘Dev’) passed out in Year 2005 working as Head of Finance in one of the fastest growing Artificial Intelligence (AI) & Data Analytics company of India. I was born in Sindhi family, rise in Marwari community & married with Gujrati girl so you will find blended &curated message for you.
Let me try my best to deliver something useful to you not only in the beginning of your career but also in subsequent years of your life. You should consider my advice seriously and take benefits from it. It has been observed that most of the time post-examination, candidates get completely relaxed instead of focusing on future career plans. It is equally important to define a strategy to achieve the desired goal with timelines.
It has also been seen that freshers often get frustrated after receiving a couple of rejections from the first few rounds of interviews. My friends, you need not worry about the negative results of interviews; history books are already full of such failure records. The only solution I can recommend is that you need to introspect; understand the shortcomings that played a critical role in your failure and how to overcome such incidents. Let’s conquer the battle with full throttle, and I am sure you will taste success sooner when you are eager to achieve it.
Five-Point Strategy for Career Guidance
-
Preparation for Interview: My friends, this is my foremost sincere advice; how you prepare for the interview is the primary step to cracking it. I suggest you consider the following:
- Wear formal official attire
- Ensure your hair is combed
- Keep your nails properly cut
- Polish your shoes/sandals
- Smile and carry your latest CV with a photograph
Also, consider how you greet people, your sitting posture, and your body language while talking to the interview panel. Communication is key: focus on your speed, tone, choice of words, and facial expressions. Don’t just rely on bookish knowledge; stay updated on current events related to finance. Always be honest about your work exposure gained during articleship and previous employment. A blend of technical skills and communication skills will help you crack the interview process.
- Know Your Employers: This is a crucial aspect of your selection process. Before appearing for an interview, spend considerable time understanding your prospective employer. Key parameters to know include the employer’s industry and its challenges, the employer’s history and past financial performance, and the directors’ details. Research any key issues the company or industry is facing, such as import curbs, export challenges, foreign exchange currency movement, GST investigations, and RBI or ED interrogations. Many insights can be found in annual reports and public domain sources.
- Networking: This is an essential tool to help you reach opportunities. Join groups based on your interests, like audit or tax groups, and ensure you engage meaningfully by answering queries logically. This will help you stay updated and show your sincere efforts. If possible, meet community members for mentorship; this will aid in finding your dream job or company.
- Upskilling: Utilize your time to sharpen your skills. In today’s fast-paced tech era, you can’t afford to be idle. Decisions are increasingly data-driven. Understand workflows from initiation to end, how systems integrate, and how to present data effectively using BI tools. Take advantage of free and paid courses on platforms like Udemy and Coursera to enhance your credentials.
- Spend Time with Family & Hobbies: Being human, you must allocate time for family, friends, and extracurricular activities. This is one of the best ways to de-stress and gain positive energy to tackle life’s challenges. Don’t confine yourself; explore your interests and talents to overcome shyness and make bold decisions during tough times.
I strongly believe that these insights will be useful to you, and my small efforts will help you reshape your life and career. My best wishes to you!
