Story of a Young Female CA to Edtech Entrepreneur

I was born in Jhunjhunu (Rajasthan) & brought up in Mumbai.

As I was quite good at academics since childhood, there is always an inherent assumption that, we would be able to choose the further professional education & career path very easily. However mine was a little different.

I still remember a relative of mine, telling me, when I was roughly in Class 7th- “Arpita, if someone asks you, what do you want to become professionally (Tujhe Bade Hokar Kya Banna Hai?), then say – I will become a Chartered Accountant”

Little did I know about it, but somewhere this line had got a special place in my mind & consciously or unconsciously, I used to say to every random person, asking me this question.

Due to good scores in Class 10th, I could easily get an admission in R.A.Podar College (Matunga), Mumbai. Happily Juggling between College, Articleship, Classes & Libraries, I managed to Clear my CA Finals in First Attempt at the age of 21.

After celebrating the success for a while, we realise that now it’s time to start with the Next Innings of Professional life, where we are expected to take a very sensible decision regarding our Career.

Available option with me at that point of time was to Go for a Corporate Job or to Start a Practice or may be to Join an Existing CA’s Practice.

After exploring these options, none of it, actually attracted me. But as they say, “ Never Lose Hope, You never know what tomorrow may bring”,
It worked to the point for me!

Someone came to me & casually asked, “Can you help a friend of mine, to clear CA IPCC (now CA Inter) exams, till the time you don’t opt for a job?”
& I always had this thing in my mind that – I’ll do anything, but NOT TEACHING.

But again, little did I know, Destiny already had different plans for me.
Without giving much thought, I started teaching to that 1 student, from my home. By this time- Hunting a Job had already taken a back seat. Her exams were due in November 2011 & with combined efforts, my first student, tasted success in January 2012 (when the results were announced). This was her 7th attempt overall, but 1st attempt with me.

I started gaining & building confidence. A friend of mine, joined along & we decided to make this noble profession of teaching – A Forever thing for us. We started with various Batches for Chartered Accountancy Students right from Foundation to Final Level. Our Team expanded, we gained Students & we started getting Amazing Results consistently. With tiny, cautious & thoughtful steps from 2012 to 2015, we decided to Enter this Digital World of Teaching. The 1st step was creating a YouTube Channel – “Arpita’s Commerce Eduworld” for providing Content to CA Students. At that moment also, as and when a Single Subscriber increased, it used to add Smile to my Face.

In the year 2015, when everyone believed & thought, that , it’s too early to go for Online Education for CA Students, I somewhere had this strong intuition that It’s not Early. In 2016, We started Recording our Lectures, got listed on E-Commerce Educational Platforms & the reach went from Mumbai to the Whole of India in a span of merely 2 years.

In the year 2018, I launched my very own Educational E-Commerce Website – www.arpitatulsyan.com
Having website with this domain name was a dream since 2012, but it got its proper shape at proper time.
When people ask, din’t you face any troubles in regards to Online Teaching during Covid-19?
I still thank my strong gut & intuition, which led me to think about Online Education since 2015-16.

Today, having taught many thousands of students face to face, many thousands via Online Mode, many thousands via YouTube, In India and abroad, we have got an Overall Total 37 Lacs of Views since our Channel was Launched, more than 50,000 subscribers to the YouTube Channel & more than 20,000 students connected via other Social Media Platforms.

A special note for all the young CA’s & to those who will just begin their journey-

When I cleared, People said – “May be it happened by chance”
If I wouldn’t have cleared, People would have said – “ She is not made for it”
Whatever you do, Whatever you say, Whatever happens – The Society will say Something or the Other. Never take it to your heart, as it is rightly said- Ignorance is Bliss 🙂
All we can do is, to try to bring some positive change in minds of people, slowly & steadily!

If you are thinking something for yourself, If you have some out of the box idea for your career, for your future, just analyse it & go for it. Never think, what Society will think about it.

My Father has taught me the real meaning of this:
अगर लोग क्या सोचेंगे,
ये भी हमने सोच लिया,
तो लोग क्या सोचेंगे मेरे दोस्त ।

Things that I have learnt till now, during this beautiful journey –
A) Where there is a will, there is a way. If you have the determination to do something, Universe will make that happen.
B) Respect your Competitors, Observe & Learn from them. They are the best teachers.
C) Concept of Positivity & Manifestation really works well.
D) Especially for Girls- Let’s become Independent at the earliest possible age, it gives you Next Level Confidence to achieve a lot more.

As on today, I have successfully taught lot many students, got amazing results from them & have authored Books for CA Final students, which is available PAN India. With this sheer hard-work & consistency, I have ventured successfully into this Male Dominated – Field of Teaching & made a good position for myself.
Not even 1% of this would have been achieved without support of My Parents, Almighty, My Team, My Mentor – CA Sunil Patodia Uncleji & amazing well wishers. Would always be grateful to them.
